Online CAOHC-Approved C-OHC Certification Courses

Occupational Hearing Conservationists are trained and credentialed through Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) approved courses.

Frank Wartinger, Au.D. (Course Director #496199) leads high-quality courses with engaging instruction for occupational health professionals who administer audiometric testing as required by OSHA, MSHA, DOD and FRA regulations.

Course Details

Initial courses include the official CAOHC 5th edition Hearing Conservation Manual textbook, study guide, additional study materials, hearing protection devices, and CAOHC exam fee. Re-certification courses include electronic study materials, hearing protection devices, and CAOHC exam fee. The textbook and printed study guide can be purchased as an add-on option.

To attend an online course, each student must have access to the following equipment:

  • Computer with reliable internet connection and a functional webcam

  • Otoscope and a willing individual to serve as a stand-in patient during practicum

  • Hearing protection devices (note: a packet of devices will be shipped out to each registrant 1-2 weeks prior to the course date)

  • Access to an audiometer is not required during the course due to the use of online simulators. However, many students report benefit from having access to a physical audiometer device for extended hands-on learning.

Courses are held from 8am to 5pm EST, except for the final day of Full Certification courses which is held from 8am to 12pm EST. Individual course agenda and schedules may vary and will be confirmed and communicated to each student prior to the course. Note that we are now offering select WEST COAST FRIENDLY Course dates with 11am ET/8am PST start times.

OHC Certification

Completion of a CAOHC approved course, conducted by a CAOHC certified Course Director, does not automatically grant Occupational Hearing Conservation certification. All students must pass the computer-based examination at the conclusion of the course. The certification period is five years, at the end of which students are required to complete a re-certification course.

Course FAQs

Question: Is this CAOHC course fully online?

Answer: Yes! Our course is entirely online. The lecture, practicum, hearing test training, and examination are all completed from your computer from your location.

Question: I am not in Pennsylvania. Can I take this course?

Answer: Yes! CAOHC courses are valid for attendees from all states and countries, since the C-OHC credential is an internationally recognized credential that does not connect to your state or local license. In fact, Earmark Hearing Conservation has trained individuals from 48 states and 10 countries to date!

Question: Can we get a bulk discount for registering multiple members of our staff?

Answer: Yes! First, thank you for your continued support and trust in our training programs. We offer bulk discounts for organizations who register large numbers of individuals over a 12 month period. Please inquire to contact@earmarkhc.com regarding your specific situation.

Question: Is this course ADA accessible?

Answer: Yes! COHC candidates are responsible for notifying course directors (CDs) and/or sponsoring organization of any Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) related issues with sufficient notice prior to the course date. Proper documentation will be required and discussed on a case-by-case basis.
